Coega is a major development on the shores of Algoa Bay near
Port Elizabeth. It comprises a new port, which is already open to
container shipping as well as an industrial development zone which is
planned to be a boost to the economy of the Eastern Cape.
The number of visitors to Coega involved with development of the infrastructure and projects is steadily on the increase with a commensurate increase in the need for accommodation near to Coega.
Both Bluewater Bay, on the northern fringes of Port Elizabeth, and
Colchester, at the mouth of the Sundays River, offer some nice
accommodation convenient for Coega. The N2 between Coega and
Colchester is being upgraded to freeway standard which, when complete,
will make the journey a matter of minutes which is already the case from
Bluewater Bay.
